Noli and the Glitter Explosion

It's always a fun time when we have a Noli sleepover!

Did you know that her name is Magnolia?
Noli for short!

That jumper she's wearing was one that I made for her mother for the first day of school in first grade -- it has a blouse to go with it too (you can see it on mommy here!)

I try to have something special for us to do when Noli is here, but there are all the tried and true activities that we MUST do every time.

Like playing the ponies, um, with the ponies, hehe

and Legos (especially the horse trailer set)

and watching a movie and playing computer games
I believe this movie is Santa Paws

and watching the outside kitties
There's Funny Face (a temporary name) on the shed steps, Daddy Blackie on the potting table, and little Midnight underneath. He's solid black like his daddy so you can barely see him!

So, on our last sleepover, we had the great Glitter Explosion Experiment.... Noli was pretty excited to do it -- glitter you know....

We gathered the ingredients --
a big vase, baking soda, vinegar, food coloring,
a baking pan for the overflow....

and, of course, the most important ingredient, GLITTER!
Noli was pretty stoked that she got new glitter out of the deal, in fancy shaker tubes!

First came the baking soda, carefully measured out....

then the food coloring

and the most fun part....
can I hear you say GLITTER!!
I'm putting in some of each color, Mumsie, won't that be pretty?

then the vinegar.... ohhh, it's starting to explode!!

better get out of the way!!

hmmm, it fizzled out..... let's add more baking soda and vinegar

Here it comes again!

Cool explosion, pretty bubbles and flying glitter!!

After all was done, we poured the gunk into the pan to play with it...
and, of course, add more glitter!

Hmmm, could this have had something to do with the dinky size of the explosion?
Only a year old!!

Next time, I'll buy new baking soda!

Later on we played Polly Pocket
and Polly got a new makeover the next day!

But you'll have to wait for another time to find out just what happened to Miss Polly and her friends....

Glitter could be involved.....
just sayin'

Sharing over at Miss Jenny's for Alphabe-Thursday where we are studying the letter N
and at Grandma's Briefs for GRAND Social

Sounds like the sleep overs with my grandson, Ezra, though we do the boy equivalent of toys and projects. Wonder how he's like a pink pony? Noli is adorable. xo Jenny

What a fun day :) Even big girls like to play with glitter too :)

PS...Baking soda is one of those things that's out of date every time I go to use it!

How delightful! Noli is adorable and you both were so creative and had such fun 'making memories' to cherish ~ thanks, carol, xo

I like her name, both versions! And even though I'm an adult, I'd be interested in making one of those glitter explosions myself! Haha.

She's so cute! It's great that there are so many things that you enjoy doing when she comes to visit. The glitter explosion looks like so much fun. I've been thinking about trying something like that because it could make for some amazing pictures!

Her nickname is so cute and so is she! I checked out the dress and blouse set on your other blog and it is SO PRETTY!! I wore something similar as a child. Love it! And it's in such a great condition too! Glad you two had fun experimenting with the glitter and baking soda :)

I was so afraid for you when I saw 'glitter explosion!' I'm glad you prepared well with that tray underneath. I probably wouldn't have thought with that and would have glitter in my house for ever and ever as a result.

I bet Noli had a blast! What a neat glitter explosion experiment. I always have to make sure my baking soda is within the expiration date as it is my go to antacid!

Noli looks so cute in the dress! How adorable she is!
The black kitties are quite camouflaged in the shadows! I see little eyes shining out of the darkness.
GLITTER!

Ok...I have to say...super cute dress + super cute name + super cute girl = lots of fun! How wonderful that she was wearing the same dress created by you for her mommy! I am glad that I saved a lot of our children's clothes to pass along to their little ones.

We only have one grandbaby right now, but it has been fun to see her in some of her mommy's clothes.

Blessings & Aloha!
Thank you soooo much for your sweet visit and for your congratulations for our son's upcoming wedding :o)

We have played a lot with baking soda and vinegar but we never thought to add glitter! I am emailing this post to Amara -- who loves all things glitter and all things Pony -- especially Rainbow Dash is our current favorite!

Hi Sarah, thanks for dropping by for a chat about our grands. Your gd is precious. Oh how I used to have fun when the grands visited. Tea parties and arts and crafts and dancing. We always danced in the garage to the vintage 8 track player. Our grands are grown now having babes of their own. Blessings

I feel tempted to try that explosion too! Grandkids are so special, they let us be kids again too. :)

Sounds like you had a nifty night with Noli...

Oh and by the way, I love Magnolia's nickname!

I think my Grands would love this neat little glitter explosion... I made a note to check the expiration date on the baking soda when we give it a go...((winkwink)))

Nice post for the letter "N"!

Thanks for linking.
