Very Tiny and Very Tall Babies

The Very Tiny

Somekitty in the backyard had some sweet tiny kittens.....

Born April 12

Just three, thank goodness! But Mouse's middle looked like she had swallowed a soccer ball so three really surprised me. From what I can see, they are solid colors -- one grey, one golden and one black.

Mama Mouse

She made a little nest behind a board that was leaning against the shed. Another surprise -- I would have thought it would be under the shed which is their go to place when confronted by us humans. Yet, maybe that was the reason she chose another place -- too much activity under the shed!

Aren't they the cutest?

The Very Tall

Katie, one of the giraffes at the Dallas Zoo had her calf on Friday, April 10. After 15 months. Fifteen months! Can you imagine? But I guess it takes a while to grow a 6 foot tall baby! It's a girl -- a petite 5 feet, 10 inches and 139 pounds! No name yet -- the zookeepers have chosen three and fans can vote on them.

Giraffe photos courteous of Dallas Zoo

This was a collaboration between the Dallas Zoo and Animal Planet. Animal Planet set eight different cameras in the special maternity pen where Katie was, and the birth was broadcast live! Oh what an amazing birth!

There are twelve giraffes at the zoo and just about all of them were hanging over the fences checking out the new babe! Apparently, they are very curious animals!

The cameras are still rolling, so if you'd like to take a look, check out the live cam hereSometimes you'll see an empty pen when Katie and and babe are with the vets, so be patient! If you'd like to see the birth scroll down a bit and click where it says "Watch the video highlights" in green (or links from across the top of the page).

Spring is Springing Up Everywhere

While we were running errands the other day, I couldn't help but notice the flowers that are springing up all over town :)

I snapped a few pictures to share, and thought of the March Challenge on the Blogging Business Artisans Etsy team. This month's challenge is brought to us by Cynthia of Antiquity Travelers who posed the question "The first signs of spring .... what does spring mean to you? What inspires you as the weather starts to warm up?"

The first flowers popping up, the tiny bright green leaves sprouting on the trees, the breezes prompting me to open my windows and enjoy the beautiful days. That's spring to me!

These tulips were growing on the edges of a parking lot

Even pretty with the lamp post behind them!

Especially, when reflected in a puddle!

So pretty....

We passed a church with a large expanse of front lawn
covered in tiny pink flowers

with patches of Bluebonnets just starting to sprout

Pooped Snowman

This guy needs a long winter's nap!

Guess he got tired of waiting for that snow!

I'm afraid he'll have a long wait here in Texas...

That's a Lot of Bull!

We were driving though a kinda country, kinda huge houses area.... you know the kind. Houses that I guess could be called mansions, houses costing a few million with three or so more bathrooms than bedrooms, houses with their own tennis courts and movie screening rooms....

I don't know about you, but my house is nothing like that!!

Anyway, we were driving along and look who we saw! A beauty he was, with his long curly horns....

Mr. Longhorn Bull

There were a bunch of them (aka a bunch of bulls... oh, I am so witty!) standing under some trees but I couldn't get a decent shot because of the fence, and there was no place to really stop. But this beauty was right close to the road and said he didn't mind his picture being taken.

So I took another....
(Good grief, what happened to the sky?!!)

Then I thought about this bull in Oak Cliff, south of Dallas. I had taken it one day when we had gone to the Texas Theatre. (Blue Monday folks, check out that blue check cashing place sign!)

He's a pretty hefty guy -- lots of steaks on him!!

And you probably remember this guy from a few posts back....

So this post is just a bunch of bull!  LOL big time!

Winking Car

There I was, innocently walking through the parking lot when I spy this bad boy....

Winking at me!

Reminds me of when I was a teenager and the rule was whenever you spotted a *one-eye* car with one headlight out, you got to smooch! Oh, fun times!
