A Kitty Surprise ~ Warm Heart Wednesday

Out with the old, in with the new! We are done with Alphabe-Thursday and Miss Jenny is starting a new blog party for us.... Warm Heart Wednesday. It will be a place to share something that warmed your heart in the previous week. It can be a big thing, or a tiny just for a moment thing. Just something that made you happy.

If you'd like to join in, click on the badge below and tell us what made you feel all warm and cuddly last week. (And, I am aware that today is Thursday, not Wednesday... but Miss Jenny is kind enough to leave the linkie up for us procrastinators!)

So, on to my cuddly thing....

Noli came over last Friday and brought me a surprise! It was an art project she made in school -- they were to make something out of a foam clay, paint it, and make a box to display it in. So I was super surprised when she made her project just for me!

Her clay figure was of Oliver and Sam
My sweet kitties who are no longer with us

Oliver is the orange one and Sam is the brown and black one

(Oh, if you haven't and would like to read the reason she's wearing that cast, go to my previous post!)
Notice the red writing? That's me "♥ Mumsie"  Papa signed on the other side :)

She made them hugging because they were the best of friends

It's hard to tell, but they have their tails wrapped around each other

She gave Oliver green eyes

Just look at those tails!

This is the box.
Typical Noli -- lots of frills!
Can you see the green paws on either side of the box?
Green pipe cleaners!

It's a kitty box if you're not sure LOL!
On the back of the doily head are two crepe paper flowers
And written inside are
"Special Words.... Oliver and Sam"

What a sweetheart!

I decided I would lean the clay Oliver and Sam against a framed picture of Domino -- a black and white cat we got when Stephanie was about nine (She's 32 now!) I look at that picture every day and hold the sweet Domino in my heart. Now Oliver and Sam can join him.

Silly Domino, I caught him in a big yawn!
They were each rescue cats -- maybe I'll tell their stories one day.

 Sweet Sam, Oliver and Domino
and especially sweet sweet Noli

They warm my heart everyday.

Something Blue...

Wow, it's been a really long time since I posted anything, and a really really long time since I posted something to Blue Monday! I'll see if I can be better in the future :)

About a week ago, Noli came over with something new....

Yikes!
She fell off her scooter and cracked her ring finger...
Not quite a break, but still required a giant blue cast!

Move over Rocky, here comes Noli!

(a little extra blue in her "these do not go with that shirt" pants!)

New Car Noli

OK, so are you wondering from the title if a nine year old kid really has a new car?

Well, see for yourself....

New car

Noli in new car, preparing to drive

Checking out the settings

Yes, Mumsie, my feet can reach the brake

Beginning to back up

Throw her in the back because she's not driving this car!!!

Oh, so it's Stephanie's new car... you had me fooled, Noli.....

Peace out!

A Hot Dog Dream

Last night I dreamed about hot dogs....
Weird, I know.
Especially since we rarely, if ever, eat hot dogs!

(and then only Wranglers with cheddar cheese stuck in them)
Remember them? More of a sausage than a hot dog!
And very yum :)
It's been years and now I don't think they make them anymore. Boo.

But, dream of hot dogs I did -- some friends (have no idea who) were coming over for dinner and they wanted hot dogs. I told them we didn't eat hot dogs and maybe we could have something else (dinner was at my house after all) but, no, they insisted on having hot dogs.

Maybe I was hungry!

And then I dreamed that they were smoking in the house (a no-no and besides that, we don't smoke!) and they left their ashes everywhere but in the ashtray.

I dunno.... dreams can be very strange!

So, I woke up with hot dogs on my mind. The closest thing I had to a hot dog was a corn dog (a guilty pleasure of mine) but that wasn't appetizing at 7:00 in the morning! Since Noli is spending a couple of nights with us, maybe we will indulge in those yummy corn dogs for dinner!

With corn on the cob and French fries.... some of her favorites!!

So, thinking more about hot dogs, I went to my crochet food patterns and realized that it has been a very long time since there were hot dogs or corn on the cob in my Etsy shop

I'll be making a set of hot dogs and s'mores soon.

No s'mores for Noli (I'm not building a fire to toast them!)

but she can have a chocolate chip cookie

Summertime = Snow Cones and Popsicles

The beginning of summer always brings to mind two things....

Snow Cones and Popsicles!

And the thought of those two yummy delights make me go backward in time for some special memories...

Snow Cones....
When Noli was about four, I took her to a local snow cone stand for her first taste.... and she decided that we should go to all the snow cone stands so she could sample all the different flavors. I, of course (being a lover of snow cones) agreed. I think we hit three or four places over that summer (I didn't want her to go crazy or I'd be in mucho trouble with the mama LOL!)

Noli ~ My favorite is the blue one!

Me ~ Why is that?

Noli ~ 'Cause it turns my lips and tongue blue!

Popsicles...
Now we go waaay back in time to when I was about four or five or so (waaaay back....)

When summer arrived the ice cream man started his rounds, but he didn't have a truck.... he had a bicycle contraption that was part bicycle and part freezer. He'd peddle down the street and ring his bell and all the kids would run out to get frozen goodies from him.

I always got red popsicles or sometimes fudgsicles.

The popsicles were the double kind and, because I loved him soooo much :) I'd break it in two and only eat half of that popsicle.... and leave the other half for my big brother.

I never did know if he actually ate his half, but somebody must have because I would check and it was always gone!

Sometimes I got a fudgsicle but big brother didn't get any of that.... hehe.

These two will eventually wind up in my shop, of course ....

The memories of  these two frozen goodies prompted me to make these crochet versions, and that fit right into the Blogging Business Artisans June challenge -- to create something that celebrates the start of summer. This challenge was brought to us by Natasha of Stalking the Wild Snark

Now, don't you think it's time to stock up on snow cones and popsicles?!!

Eleanor Biscuit

I've recently become a grandma again!!

Wait, wait!! That would be a new puppy grandlittle!

Introducing Miss Eleanor Biscuit....

Noli is thrilled with her new "sister"

I have yet to formally meet my new grandpuppy, but soon I'll take the trek over the Stephanie's and give her some skritches and hugs in person!

Noli has her dressed up in something...
Eleanor Biscuit had better get used to it,
Noli definitely likes to play dress up!

Here's Miss Biscuit the biplane pilot....
Note the red scarf like the Red Baron Snoopy!

I think she looks like she's barely tolerating all this picture taking!

I'm sure Nova likes having a new playmate,
but the question is....
Will he share his toys?

Ha! Like 2 year old kids share their toys, I'd say!

The Un-Easter Bunny Comes to Visit

OK, I know that title is quite a stretch for the letter U....
But what can I say? That's all I've got!

Actually, I wanted to share a bit of Easter fun with you, and didn't want to wait much longer since Easter is over!

Noli knows the truth about the Easter Bunny, but still enjoys the goodies that he brings! Since they (and Nova the dog) were going to the lake on Sunday -- and we didn't particularly want to go with -- Noli and Stephanie came over on Saturday to get in a bit of family (and E. Bunny) time.

I hid the Easter basket that I had put together for Noli so she wouldn't pounce on it the moment she walked in the door, and then brought it out when she wasn't looking.

I, of course, maintained that the true Easter Bunny had delivered it.

She would have no part of it.

Then I told her the story of when the Easter Bunny left me a note in my basket. When I was a kid, I put out my Easter basket like you do your stocking for Santa. And he comes in the night and fills it up. Well, carrying on the Bunny/Santa tradition, I also left a carrot for Mr. E.B. -- and one year, he left me a note!

It said, "Thanks for the carrot, Sarah" -- and the carrot was drawn! It was written in beautiful calligraphy. I was so excited that the Easter Bunny had left me a note!

And Noli fell for it hook, line and sinker.

By the way, just so you know, that is a true story. He did leave me a note! In later years, I insisted that my brother had written it, but he always denied it. I guess I'll just never know for sure....

As for Noli's basket.... see the bunny money? I found this cute way of folding a dollar bill into a bunny, so she got bunny money plus shiny new quarters in the eggs. Google "folding dollar bills" and you'll find lots of cool ways to fold them! I glue-sticked the eyes and nose -- the nose is just a hole punch into the pink portion of an advertisement!

And of course, there were peanut M&Ms, along with a fancy new notebook and gel pens, some super cool blue nail polish, and a a big egg full of bunnies (like that monkey game where you hook them all together)

Ha! They match her shirt!

And then Stephanie had some surprises for her for Easter morning, one of which was a cute new dress to wear Easter Sunday. Two visits from Mr. E. Bunny!

Noli, goof that she is, has a new pink bunny grass hat....

We went to Jason's Deli to eat lunch and she started writing in her notebook about what she was eating. (She and I shared a Reuben.... I was surprised that a 9 year old would like corned beef and sauerkraut but she does!) Stephanie and Papa had the salad bar, but Noli and I were craving meat!!

Then we went to a park so Noli could run off some of that bunny energy.... all in all a good day!

Okay, Papa, I'm ready!

Here goes!

Uh-oh, will it ever come down?

Noli spent most of her time running after the ball....

and acting silly

The winner!

Or else.
