Yellow is my favorite color for roses and I had always loved this plate, so when she asked me which of her pieces I wanted, I immediately chose the yellow roses plate! I am beyond thrilled to have this, and other pieces that she painted. They are on display in my home and every time I look at them, I remember my dear aunt.
She painted it in 1970 on a Noritake china plate. The little scroll work on the plate's edge is part of the plate's design.
A close-up of the roses.
So, it is only fitting that my Y word for AlphabeThursday is Yellow, for Yellow Roses! Go on over to Jenny's for some more Y's!

I've been pondering the idea of removing my matching dishes from my china hutch and putting in special pieces instead. You've just inspired me to do so!

Yesterday With You
Such lovely work by your Aunt and how sweet that you have that to remember her.
I have only known one other person who did china painting...it must be an art form that is fading away like so many others in our hurry up world.
What a wonderful memory you have of your aunt! She did a beautiful job, too, of painting.
What a gorgeous plate! I love that you have this. Did you write the story of the plate and attach it to the back? It would be awesome to have that in the family forever!
Her brush work looks absolutely amazing.
Thank you for sharing it with us.
