Eleanor Biscuit

I've recently become a grandma again!!

Wait, wait!! That would be a new puppy grandlittle!

Introducing Miss Eleanor Biscuit....

Noli is thrilled with her new "sister"

I have yet to formally meet my new grandpuppy, but soon I'll take the trek over the Stephanie's and give her some skritches and hugs in person!

Noli has her dressed up in something...
Eleanor Biscuit had better get used to it,
Noli definitely likes to play dress up!

Here's Miss Biscuit the biplane pilot....
Note the red scarf like the Red Baron Snoopy!

I think she looks like she's barely tolerating all this picture taking!

I'm sure Nova likes having a new playmate,
but the question is....
Will he share his toys?

Ha! Like 2 year old kids share their toys, I'd say!

A Clump O' Kitties

Did you know that a group of kittens is called a clump?

No? Well it should be since they are always clumped together!

Prepare for cuteness overload....

There's more than one way to nurse a kitten!
(by the way, that blur on top of mama is actually the grey kitty leaning over to get a drink!)

Some like to cuddle and others like to play fight

Practicing kick boxing....

Oh, my aching back says Mama Mouse

C'mon Mama, be a horsie!

The others wait their turn to ride the horsie....

Tuckered out

Dennis decided this piece of wood looked like a plate....
(Prepare for dorky joke...)

They are smart kitties because they're a Plate O' Kitties

Get it?? Plato Kitties.....

Told ya it was a dorky joke.  LOL!

Little Bluebird

Well, it's definitely been awhile since I last blogged -- the first week of May for the letter Y to be exact. I've had computer problems galore.... wound up getting a new one and a new router/modem combo. I had a backup but not everything backed up.... I'm still working on that.

I'm pretty sure a massive lightning bolt was the cause of my old computer's demise. Oliver and I both ran for the hills (OK, the hall) when that lightening crashed!! Poor cat, with all the rain and thunderstorms we're having, he is just a tad nervous!

Now there's a whole new round started for AlphabeThursday!!

I've been doing a bit a crocheting and came up with this little cutie guy :)

Isn't he a sweetie with his pudgy tummy?! I don't think he's passed up too many worms!

His wings can be "at rest"

or sticking straight out in preparation for flight!

and he's got a cute little tail on his backside!

I plan on making more in various colors.... I've even got a plan for a robin and maybe a cardinal if I can get his black mask right. If not then he'll just be a red bird!

Look for him and some of his buddies in my Magnolia Surprise shop -- hopefully by the time June rolls around!

Yellow Kitty On the Loose!

You might remember when I wrote about the "very tiny babies" that were born in our yard on April 12.... it's been 3 ½ weeks and we have now had an official kitten sighting!

Wait, mama, wait for me!

Yellow kitty escaped from their little nest behind the board leaning against the shed, following Mousie mom across the yard. She was heading to the greenhouse (which we use for an extra storage space since neither one of us has a particularly green thumb) and little Yellow Kitty was in hot pursuit! About as hot a pursuit as a 3 week old kitten can manage!

Mousie turned back to rescue Yellow Kitty, after waiting a few minutes while the big bad hooman man (Dennis) had a good look at her kitten (standing several feet away). That little kitty was mewing away!

Then mama ran over, snatched Yellow Kitty up and ran quick as a bunny to the greenhouse. Zip zip through the doggy-now-kitty door and jump jump up onto the built-in potting table, and scoot scoot behind the tarp covered storage boxes on said table.

Gotcha!

When she's got YK settled in, she runs and gets Grey Kitty, drops her, circles around and grabs her up again, and back into the greenhouse.

But not before I got a series of Awww moments with Grey Kitty!

Oh my, is this the cutest or what!

A definite awww moment here! The little furball.

Mama catches her again

and goes back to get Black Kitty.

Ha! This is all I got of Black Kitty's transport!
Mouse had been practicing with the other two kittens and was too fast for me!

Now they are all three nestled snug as a bug in the greenhouse!

And we can finally get rid of the poison ivy that's growing at the corner of the shed... the "kitty corner" as it were. LOL!

Very Tiny and Very Tall Babies

The Very Tiny

Somekitty in the backyard had some sweet tiny kittens.....

Born April 12

Just three, thank goodness! But Mouse's middle looked like she had swallowed a soccer ball so three really surprised me. From what I can see, they are solid colors -- one grey, one golden and one black.

Mama Mouse

She made a little nest behind a board that was leaning against the shed. Another surprise -- I would have thought it would be under the shed which is their go to place when confronted by us humans. Yet, maybe that was the reason she chose another place -- too much activity under the shed!

Aren't they the cutest?

The Very Tall

Katie, one of the giraffes at the Dallas Zoo had her calf on Friday, April 10. After 15 months. Fifteen months! Can you imagine? But I guess it takes a while to grow a 6 foot tall baby! It's a girl -- a petite 5 feet, 10 inches and 139 pounds! No name yet -- the zookeepers have chosen three and fans can vote on them.

Giraffe photos courteous of Dallas Zoo

This was a collaboration between the Dallas Zoo and Animal Planet. Animal Planet set eight different cameras in the special maternity pen where Katie was, and the birth was broadcast live! Oh what an amazing birth!

There are twelve giraffes at the zoo and just about all of them were hanging over the fences checking out the new babe! Apparently, they are very curious animals!

The cameras are still rolling, so if you'd like to take a look, check out the live cam hereSometimes you'll see an empty pen when Katie and and babe are with the vets, so be patient! If you'd like to see the birth scroll down a bit and click where it says "Watch the video highlights" in green (or links from across the top of the page).

The Un-Easter Bunny Comes to Visit

OK, I know that title is quite a stretch for the letter U....
But what can I say? That's all I've got!

Actually, I wanted to share a bit of Easter fun with you, and didn't want to wait much longer since Easter is over!

Noli knows the truth about the Easter Bunny, but still enjoys the goodies that he brings! Since they (and Nova the dog) were going to the lake on Sunday -- and we didn't particularly want to go with -- Noli and Stephanie came over on Saturday to get in a bit of family (and E. Bunny) time.

I hid the Easter basket that I had put together for Noli so she wouldn't pounce on it the moment she walked in the door, and then brought it out when she wasn't looking.

I, of course, maintained that the true Easter Bunny had delivered it.

She would have no part of it.

Then I told her the story of when the Easter Bunny left me a note in my basket. When I was a kid, I put out my Easter basket like you do your stocking for Santa. And he comes in the night and fills it up. Well, carrying on the Bunny/Santa tradition, I also left a carrot for Mr. E.B. -- and one year, he left me a note!

It said, "Thanks for the carrot, Sarah" -- and the carrot was drawn! It was written in beautiful calligraphy. I was so excited that the Easter Bunny had left me a note!

And Noli fell for it hook, line and sinker.

By the way, just so you know, that is a true story. He did leave me a note! In later years, I insisted that my brother had written it, but he always denied it. I guess I'll just never know for sure....

As for Noli's basket.... see the bunny money? I found this cute way of folding a dollar bill into a bunny, so she got bunny money plus shiny new quarters in the eggs. Google "folding dollar bills" and you'll find lots of cool ways to fold them! I glue-sticked the eyes and nose -- the nose is just a hole punch into the pink portion of an advertisement!

And of course, there were peanut M&Ms, along with a fancy new notebook and gel pens, some super cool blue nail polish, and a a big egg full of bunnies (like that monkey game where you hook them all together)

Ha! They match her shirt!

And then Stephanie had some surprises for her for Easter morning, one of which was a cute new dress to wear Easter Sunday. Two visits from Mr. E. Bunny!

Noli, goof that she is, has a new pink bunny grass hat....

We went to Jason's Deli to eat lunch and she started writing in her notebook about what she was eating. (She and I shared a Reuben.... I was surprised that a 9 year old would like corned beef and sauerkraut but she does!) Stephanie and Papa had the salad bar, but Noli and I were craving meat!!

Then we went to a park so Noli could run off some of that bunny energy.... all in all a good day!
